As a writer bobbing around in a sea of writers, it’s easy to feel invisible.
It’s easy to wonder whether an agent, editor, publisher, or reader will EVER think you’re worth their time.
It’s easy to begin hyperventilating at the idea of putting yourself out there—via your blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc.—and getting swallowed in the storm of social media. Of getting blown away on the wind of rejection, hard work that gets you nowhere, and lack of connections.
It’s easy to feel alone.
Invisible.
But here’s the amazing, wonderful thing.
You are NOT invisible.
God sees you.
In Genesis, the Egyptian slave Hagar called God “El Roi”—the God Who Sees Me.
Wow.
He. Sees. Me.
And this doesn’t just apply to writers.
Are you a stay-at-home mom who wonders if anyone notices or appreciates all the work you do to keep your kids clean, fed, and happy?
God sees you.
Are you an overworked employee sitting in a cubicle whose eyes bug out every morning at the increasing workload and whose boss sees you as easily replaceable?
God see you.
Are you jobless, homeless, friendless, handicapped, weary, or afraid?
My friend, God sees you.
He sees you, and He knows every little thing about you. Every freckle. Every hair on your head. Every worry, every sigh.
He sees it all.
If ever you feel invisible, remember that you are not. Because your Creator, the One who made the entire universe around you, loves you. You have a purpose. You may not see what that is, but God does.
Let His words of promise sink into your soul and soothe your spirit. “For I have loved you with an everlasting love…”
Amen.
Your Turn: How do you know that God sees you? What evidence has He given? Or tell us about a time when you struggled with invisibility.

This is an awesome post!!! I love the truth that God Sees Me. I had many times feeling invisible growing up. Mostly because people kept saying, "oh, I didn't know you were there." LOL
I'm less invisible now, but maybe it's cuz I got louder. Teehee!
"…maybe it's cuz I got louder." LOL! Love it!
Such truth here today! I had a friend pray for me the other day and she simply wrote the words, God sees. Wow, for some reason they went deep.

Sometimes it only takes a few words, doesn't it?
Encouraging message to start the week with, Lindsay! Whenever I've felt invisible, I open up my Bible and usually, certain passages will jump off the page and into my heart. During those times, verses such as "I am with you" and "do not be afraid" set the contemplative tone for me to understand my worth, purpose, and importance to the omnipresent God.
I love this, Barb! There are so many ways God promises that we are important to him. It's incredible.
El Roi – the God who sees me.
This is one of my favorite, favorite names of God.
And thank you for this reminder, Lindsay. It's a beautiful one on a Monday morning. 🙂
Yes, it's especially easy to feel invisible on a Monday, I think. And I love the names of God. So cool that He can be so many things all in one Being.
Love this!
I love it when God gives me just the right verse or just the right encouragement from a family member/friend or even just the right weather to remind me He sees me and loves me and cares. He knows what I need, when I need it.
I love it too when God uses other people to pick me up. There are so many "little things" throughout the day, "little ways" He speaks to our heart and tells us "You are important to me."
Great reminder!! It is always good to be reminded that our God lives…and sees us. What a blessing to have the Creator of the Universe see me!
Amen, Ruth. Amen.
So true, Lindsay, and a welcome message today! Thank you!
Thank YOU for stopping by, Jill! 🙂
What a beautiful post, Lindsay! It's such a comfort to know that no matter how small and insignificant I feel at times, God is there–loving me, leading me, uplifting me.
Yes, yes, yes! I feel small a lot of the time, but that God would care enough about me to uplift me…amazing.
What an encouraging post, Lindsay! This is one of my favorite names of God — the God who sees (our need) … and who sees us.
One of my favorite verses says how God has written our names on the palm of his hand … how can he forget me when has my name written on the palm of his hand? (Is. 49:16)
Aw, I love that visual, Beth!
Definitely needed this tonight. Thanks, Lindsay.
I'm so glad, Sarah. Have a great night! 🙂
