This was me upon finishing my book on Saturday. |
Just kidding. This was actually me. |

The last several weeks, those of you who are friends with me
on Facebook or Twitter* may have noticed I’ve been talking a lot about revising
and editing.

and editing.
That’s because that’s been my world lately.
And you know what? I love it!
There’s something awesome about taking something that’s
broken and fixing it. It’s a challenge to piece it together just so, but in the
end, when you have a complete product, it’s so worth it.

It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to write a novel. Many
dream it, few actually do it. It was awesome to reach that first milestone of
writing “The End” late last year. (And yes, I actually wrote it. Oops.)

In the last year, I’ve also had my first writing rejections,
my first beta reader critiques, and my first contest results feedback.

That was rough.
But totally worth it. Because now, here I am.
I FINALLY put the finishing
touches on my novel. (Well, for now. You all know how it is.)

Happy dance!!!!
My husband and I celebrated with ice cream. Yep, ice cream
is a must in my celebrations.

And now, I think I’ll celebrate this milestone with a
weeklong blogging break. I’ll be back Monday, July 9. Have a happy Fourth of

Your Turn: What’s a

I shall miss you! Text me! I am so proud of you! Accomplishing a book and edits isn't something to take lightly. Congrats and well done, friend.
Thanks so much for all of your encouragement along the way. It's meant so much. And thank you also for your first-hand knowledge of the mid-90s. It helped with storyworld in my revisions, hehe.
Well done!!!
I loved that line "I FINALLY put the finishing touches on my novel. (Well, for now. You all know how it is.)"
Hahaha! No kidding!!
I'm 2/3's of the way through an exhausting edit. I'll celebrate with a papaya.
And maybe a trip to somewhere so hot my mascar melt.
Oh, we love how all the great celebrations are named after us.
I've never had a papaya, but I do live somewhere where my mascara melts. Not really. About the melting. Too often, anyway.
And way to go on your edit! You can do it! You can do it!
Yeah! So cool. I'm taking a break too. Fun timing. And I completely hear ya on the fixing part. I'm falling more and more in love with my WIP every time I sit to edit.
~ Wendy
That's so cool to hear, Wendy! It's so neat when that happens.
I look forward to being done with my editing/rewriting on my WIP. When I first wrote it (finished it in February) I hadn't read a single writing craft book and I have a LOT to fix, so I'm taking it slow as I read more books. I've now read five craft books since then!
Congrats, Lindsay! You deserve a break. 🙂
I did that too, Gabe. I wrote the first draft and put it aside to read several craft books. Take your time and enjoy the process. Your book will be better for it. Can't wait to hold a Gabrielle Meyer book in my hands someday. 😉
Where's the "like" button?!?! 🙂 I'll be cheering along with you when I see Lindsay Harrel in print and I'll say: "I knew her when…"
I have also just emerged from the revision cave. It's awesome to see the light again! Happy 4th!
LOL, it's good to know there's light at the end of the tunnel and on the other side, isn't there? Happy 4th to you too!
Congrats, Lindsay! That's always worth a celebration. Dancing and food…you and me girl 😉
I'll be dancing and eating in your honor come October when your book releases! Yay!
Yay! Congratulations! Is that a blizzard? You know how to celebrate 🙂 You made an awesome accomplishment, good job!
Oh yeah it is…an Oreo Blizzard. Mmm, makes me want another one.
CONGRATS!!! If only I lived closer, we'd go get ice cream together. I celebrate with chocolate, so chocolate ice cream could work.
Proud of you, friend.
Have a happy 4th of July!!
That would be the best thing ever! Too bad we live across the country from each other. One of these days, we're gonna go get ice cream together. Whether that means you coming here, me going there, or meeting up at conference. 🙂
Yay, Lindsay!! Congrats on finishing your revisions. You rock! I hope you have a blast of a break. I will miss coming to your blog next M-W-F. 🙂 Maybe I'll stop by just for the heck of it. Hehehe…
And…let's get ice cream at ACFW. 🙂
I'm down. I'm totally down.
And feel free to stop in. Sit awhile. Contemplate how much you miss me. Hehe.
But for realz…I'll miss you back!
Congratulations, Lindsay! That is SUCH a big deal. Glad to see you are rewarding yourself with ice cream. That's what I always do too. 😀
