Warning: This blog post could prove hazardous to the recovering shoe shopaholic’s health. Do not read—I repeat, do not read—if you have a “problem” with shoe shopping. Just back away slowly. I am in no way responsible if you relapse.
I’ll admit it.
I love shopping.
Due to budget and time constraints, I rarely GO shopping, but I do love finding that perfect item—even if I wasn’t looking for it!
Sometime in the next week, I get to go shoe shopping, because, well, the situation has become desperate. I mean, it’s summer and my wardrobe is running thin in regards to open-toed shoes I can wear to work. Disastrous!
So where do I plan to head?
DSW. Otherwise known as Shoe Heaven.
If you aren’t fortunate enough to have a DSW nearby, well, I’m sorry. That’s all I can really say. It’s a wonderful store chock full of…you guessed it…every type of shoe you can think of (some hideous, some beautiful, some in between).
I’d love to find some practical, comfortable shoes for work and also maybe some fun ones to wear with jeans.
You never know what you’re gonna find at DSW…
I can’t wait to start my search!
Your Turn: Are you a shoe person? Do you live near a DSW? And what’s your favorite pair of shoes you own or have owned in the past?
Please don't think I'm crazily sheltered or totally ignorant, but I've never been to a DSW. 🙂 Although, I did hear someone raving about the place last week. I'm actually not a huge shoe person BUT I LOVE a good pair of cute boots. It's hard for me in the summer to see my boots lined up and know I won't get to wear them until autumn. 🙂 But I do have this awesome pair of old-school red Nikes. A couple friends gave them to me in college–they've been around the world with me and I still wear them regularly. I won't throw them away…ever…
You're missing out, Mel! I wish I had some cute boots. I do have one pair but they're not my favorite. Cute enough, but I want some really cute ones. Have never been able to find ones that aren't super expensive and yet cute…that fit.
What is DSW? Obviously, I do not have one. Obviously, I wish I did. I do love shoes and my daughter is finally at my same size so it's good and bad. Good because I get double the shoes, bad, because so does she. UGH! "Where's my shoes, Bailey? Bring them back when you're done!" I pretty much say that every single day!"
Friend! You need to find a DSW. You. Will. Love. It. And so cute that you and your daughter wear the same size.
Never heard of DSW! But I was laughing at your humor in this post, Lindsay! I'm not a shoe shopaholic. I think of myself as faithful (probably too faithful) to the shoes I do like. I wear them until either A)the heels fall off, or B)my fashion-savvy sister orders me to get rid of them. 😉
Haha, that tends to happen to me too. Not because I don't like shoes. But because they're so darn expensive, and I don't have a lot of time to shop.
DSW. Oh boy. I'm lucky I'm 45 minutes away from one! It's like the best shoe store ever!! I love shoes, but with two kids who grow out of theirs every five seconds, I don't buy many for myself anymore. 🙂
I live two miles from one! Yikes!
Flip-flops, baby! They are budget-friendly and oh-so-comfy in the summertime. I actually prefer to go barefoot, but flip-flops are the next best thing when the sidewalks are too hot to walk on.
I pretty much live in flip flops in the summer, except at work (wish I could wear them to work!).
Never been inside DSW mostly because many of my friends shop there and they usually spend $200 EASILY!! So I make an effort NOT to go in there for shoes!
Have fun shopping! 🙂
Yeah, luckily I have a giftcard! Yay!
I admire shoes from afar. 🙂 I don't like shopping and I don't like buying shoes but when people wear cute ones, I like to look. Have fun!!
Other people are definitely more adventurous than me. A lot of times I like trying on the shoes that I'd never buy…just to see what it feels like to wear them for a moment. I like flats, so this usually happens with the 3-inch spikes that are super cute but I'd never be able to wear for any length of time. 😉
We have DSW. It's easy to spend the moolah there. Have a great time!
It totally is, Loree! Thanks. 🙂
I've been to two DSW stores – one in Duluth, MN and one in the Mall of America. I love a cute pair of shoes but I am WAY TOO PICKY when it comes to finding just the right pair. Case in point – I went to DSW at the Mall of America last summer to look for a pair of sandals. I went through the whole store TWICE and my husband fell asleep on a chair waiting for me – believe it or not, I walked out without purchasing a single pair. When I go shoe shopping I have something specific in mind and I won't settle for anything less! I ended up shopping online to find the sandals I was looking for. Ironically, the pair of shoes I am wearing at this moment came from the DSW in Duluth. 🙂
I don't think it's a bad thing to not settle…unless you're so picky you end up barefoot because all of your shoes are old and ratty. 😉
