I remember the days of jumping up, licking voraciously, and
in general not listening AT ALL. It’s like it was just yesterday. Wait, it was…
Just kidding—sort of. So she isn’t perfect, but she’s improved a lot!
wanted to celebrate ways WE’VE changed this year for the better. Too often we
dwell on what we need to work on, but rarely do we look back and relish the
triumphs.
I fully realize that boasting and being proud is not normally something we want to do. But boasting in the Lord and what He’s done in our lives? Bring it on!
Now, patience as it regards all the waiting I have to do in the writing life…well, that’s still under construction. But you know what? Even if He’s brought me from one point to another–however small that step may be–it’s something to celebrate. With every step closer to Him, we glorify Him. And isn’t that what it’s all about?
for the better in the past year? It can be any kind of improvement: spiritual,
practical, emotional, physical. I can’t wait to
celebrate with you.
*Today I’m hanging out with Jessica Patch on her blog. We’re having a
summer beach party, so come on by and say hi!
Yay, happy birthday, Chloe! 🙂
Patience has been a big thing for me, too, Linds. As has discipline and determination. I think I've seen those two big Ds improve in the past 12 months as I've found a good pace and hopefully balance… 🙂
So glad you're able to see progress in those areas, Mel! Sometimes I wane in the determination department, but good friends like you keep me grounded!
My hair got grayer. Please do not celebrate that.
🙂
Lol! Mine too…thank the Lord for Revlon hair color. 😉
Bahahaha! Celebrate good times…
Oh wait, you said DON'T celebrate it.
But gray hair indicates wisdom, right? 😉
I've been through a fire in the past six months. Take the whole writing thing out of the equation and I feel like we've been slammed with test after test. I pray I'm growing. Listening & most of all trusting God more.
~ Wendy
I'm so sorry you've been through so much, Wendy, but I'm so glad to know you're clinging to God in the hard times.
A year ago, I was on the brink of getting "the call" from my agent. But of course I didn't know that yet, and I was seriously considering the need to step away from writing for a season. Amazing to see God's clear answer. And even more amazing to see how He's helped me grow since then.
Have a great weekend, Lindsay!
So glad God gave you such a clear answer to your prayers, Sarah! That's awesome.
Chloe is too cute, Lindsay!
I'd like to think my patience is growing too. With both kids and my writing. 🙂
I'm sure kids will be another test of my patience entirely whenever we have them! Celebrating for you!
Yay Chloe! Goldens are the BEST!
In the past year, I have seen a lot of changes in me…positive mostly.
In the past year since my book came out, so many wonderful things have happened! I have met many wonderful people, met with my target audience, and learned a lot about myself.
The Lord has shown me how much I love teaching others. It's not easy walking away from something very comfortable only to go into the unknown and possibly the "uncomfortable" BUT I am willing.
We'll see what He has in store for this year!
So awesome He reaffirmed your love for teaching and gave you a clear opportunity to step out in faith. I know you're going to be great!
I've become more patient at work. Earlier this year, with God's help, I adjusted my attitude. Now, I actually look forward to going in.
Sometimes, attitude is everything, isn't it? It can change a whole situation around. Celebrating with you!
Chloe is so sweet!
Aw, thanks. She is pretty sweet…until she gets ahold of my socks and won't let go!
Patience is at the top of the list for me. This past year I've had to learn how to rely on God's extra reserve of power when mine is all used up. When I can't . . . He can!
Love this pics of your puppy.
Love that thought. When we are weak, He is strong. So true, and I'm glad you've seen in it evidenced in your own life!
I like this! God does amazing things in our lives and it's fun to see the changes in a year. He's definitely helped me with relationships – forming healthier boundaries and communicating better with people.
Boundaries are definitely a healthy thing. We can't always be saying yes to everyone. God's been teaching me to sometimes say no, even when I really want something.
I've learned how to let my messy house go! When I first had toddlers roaming around, messing my house, it drove me crazy keeping it clean. Now that I have four children – and two of them are two, I've learned how to let the little things go. It's not worth the stress anymore. Que, Sera, Sera!
Amen, Gabe! I had a mom who was the best at keeping everything clean, so when I got married, I followed suit. That started to wane when both Mike and I were in grad school and I was working full time. I had to learn to do the things that were most important to my husband–like spending time together and making his lunches–instead of what I'd deemed important to me, like keeping the house clean. Celebrating with you!
Awww, look at that sweet face! Chloe is beautiful. I've changed so much in the past year, it's hard to articulate fully. He's drawn me closer to Him, healed my heart, re-broken it for this generation, and so much more. I'm so very thankful for change. It just means He's working on transforming me more into His likeness. There is no better thing, my Friend. Hugs!
Ooo, love everything you said here. He is the almighty Healer, isn't He? Celebrating your amazing changes and how you've become more like Him.
Oh, I <3 Golden Retrievers! They look so wise and kind… even at one year old, Chloe's face looks like she holds the wisdom of the ages. Gained in 1 year. Would that I could grow so fast in wisdom, lol!
Well, looks can be deceiving! Because it certainly isn't wise for her to keep destroying the pool chlorine dispenser. Or to keep getting in the garbage. Or…you get the picture.
But I agree. They have the sweetest dispositions and faces!!
