So, as you know, I took the month of August off from blogging. And because I did that, I missed out on the way-cool opportunity to participate in Laurie Tomlinson’s Pre-Conference Mix and Mingle post. It’s for all the writers attending the American Christian Fiction Writers conference next week.
So, yeah, I decided to participate anyway…a little late, but at least it’s before the conference!
Basically, anyone who wants to participate answers a few questions about herself/himself and her/his writing so others attending can learn more about their fellow attendees before even arriving! And for those of you reading this who aren’t writers, you’ll get to learn a little about me and my writing as well!
Here goes…
Name: Lindsay Harrel
Location: Phoenix, AZ
What you write/tagline: I write inspirational contemporary fiction. My tagline isn’t so much about my writing, but my life perspective: Trusting That He’s Got This. Because for me, trusting God to complete what He started in my life — including in my writing — is what’s necessary for any sort of success (however you define that!).
Place in the book world: Pre-pubbed, pre-agented author. I’ve complete two manuscripts, but will only be pitching the second one at ACFW. The other is my nice little “first attempt” which may never see the light of day…and I’m cool with that.
On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: Personal space? What’s that?
The unique talking point that will get you going for hours: Musicals! I love to sing and I love to watch musicals. Be careful if you bring up Singin’ in the Rain, Wicked, Oklahoma!, Music Man, or any other fabulous musical…I may not stop talking — and singing — your ear off.
People at home you’ll be missing: My husband Mike…and even though this says “people,” I can’t go without mentioning my two golden retrievers, Chloe and Pascal.
Conference goals we can pray for? That I would be fully present in the moment, wouldn’t botch my pitch, and ultimately, that I’d remember why I write and why I’m there. Oh yeah, and making good connections with agents and editors wouldn’t be bad either. 😉
Up for any awards? I am still stunned to say I’m a finalist in the Genesis contemporary category.
Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? Watch out, I spit! No, just kidding. Um, nothing I can think of, but if you need a friend, come find me! We’ll hang.
Your Turn: Since I asked you to pray for me, I’ll return the favor. How can I pray for you today?
*Friday I’ll be back with some fun pics of my San Diego vacation!!
I think you probably know how you can pray for me since we talk every day. Hehehe…but yeah, the busyness thing. 🙂
Loved reading through your mix and mingle post, Linds, and even more, I love that I get to see you NEXT WEEK!!!!
Yay! And I'll definitely be praying for the busyness.
YAY! Thanks for playing! It's never too late until after conference. And even then… 🙂
So, basically you're saying if I come up to you and say, "What is this feeling so sudden and new?" you'll know exactly what to do?
"I felt the moment I laid eyes on you…" 😛 Oh yeah, baby!
