I know it’s only April 20, but I’ve got summer on my mind.
Crazy to think that it’s snowing in other parts of the world, but here in Arizona, it’s gonna heat up real quick.
And with the heat comes fun times. Yes, it can be really, really hot, but that’s what pools are for, right?
Anyway, I’m excited for this summer for another reason: I get to go on a dream vacation!
My husband and I are headed to the Caribbean on a seven-day cruise the first week of July. We’ll relax, read, get sunburned (Well, I will. Hello, have you seen how white my skin is?!), explore, experience, and laugh.
Yep, I expect to laugh a lot.
So, even though it’s still a few months off, I’m dreamin’ of those summer nights aboard a cruise ship, when all my cares will be flung into the ocean.
I’m so blessed.
What about you? Looking forward to summer? Got any fun vacations planned this summer? If not, what was the best summer vacation you’ve ever taken?

Meeting up with my mom and sisters in Maryland. Can't wait to go crabbing. This vacation spot is a first for us. Enjoy the cruise! I have a feeling you're going to love it!

I've never been crabbing. But that's probably OK since I hate seafood. 🙂 I hope you have a blast!
I don't really have any fun vacations planned for the summer because I seem to be using all my time off in the spring. 🙂 Next week I'm headed to South Carolina to spend a week with some of my favorite ladies! 🙂 But I will have some fun for a few days at a camp this summer with my whole extended family, courtesy of my grandparents. I love spending time with the whole clan!
Can't wait to hear all about your cruise!
Gotta hate that "limited time off" thing, right? I know I've been frustrated with starting a new job and barely having any! But your camping sounds so fun!
JEALOUS!!!!!! I'm gonna text you every hour on the hour. LOL JK! We'll be hanging by the pool with friends this summer. No big plans!
Haha, well, you can text, but my phone probably won't be on! So I might come home to like a bajillion texts from you. That would make me feel so loved. So go ahead! 😀
Aw, sweet that you & the hubs can have a dream vacation together.
We're going camping out in the Northwest this summer (haven't quite mapped out our route), and also, a visit to the in-laws on Cape Cod. One of my favorite vacations with my family was our trip to Mackinac Island in Michigan a couple summers ago. It was just beautiful there… they don't allow any motor vehicles on the island at all, and my daughter & I rode bikes around the island twice! Fun & gorgeous scenery… which I have a feeling you'll experience on your cruise.
Have a great weekend! 🙂
I would LOVE to go to Cape Code someday. I have always wanted to travel the East Coast in summer…someday!
And I've been hearing so many good things about Mackinac Island. Another one for the list! Is it a good place to go when you have kids, or better with just you and the husband?
Oh, it's a quaint little town with lots of shops and a neat paved trail around the island where you can rent bikes or walk (most people bike)… you could totally make a weekend trip of it w/your husband. In fact, more than 2-3 days is prob. too much cuz it's a small island. Good fudge and good ice cream there. 😉
Sounds delightful! 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise, Lindsay.
Gwynly and I don't have any big summer vacation plans. Since my book comes out in July, I'll be busy with release activities, which will be lotsa fun. He's almost as excited as I am. I can't wait to see him in the frock coat, vest, and trousers we've got on order. He's gonna look sharp in his Victorian finery.
That will be awesome, Keli! I can't wait to see pictures.
How fun! Our vacations usually involve either Grandma's house or a resort with food and swimming pools close by. Convenience is the name of the game with little ones. 🙂
Yep, I'm thinking we won't be taking many cruises or long trips by ourselves once we have kids! 😛
Sounds wonderful!! All you can eat yummy food and sunshine–perfect!
We're camping on Lake Michigan–beautiful. I can't wait!
I know…I can't wait!
Ooo, camping is fun, but to camp next to a lake–that sounds awesome! Have a blast.
How fun!! I'd love to try a cruise someday….but I'm afraid I'll get sick.
Have a GREAT time!!!
I will be on a mission trip this summer in Slovakia with side trips to Poland and Hungary. Yay!! Can't wait to see all the kids at English Camp and all our translators again. 🙂
Yay! So glad you get to go back!
Have fun Lindsay! Sounds like a blast. Enjoy the time with your honey 🙂
Thanks, Joanne! It's still a little ways away, but I can dream, right? 🙂
My husband and I took our first cruise on our honeymoon! I love cruising, I know you'll have a blast. There is more food on a cruise ship than you can even wrap your mind around!
My husband owns his own landscaping/lawn care business, so we don't make vacation plans for the summer. However, we do live in the Land of 10,000 lakes and my brother, as well as my in-laws and quite a few friends live on lakes near us, so we take mini-vacations on the weekends. Also, we live on the Mississippi and we like to have campfires in the evenings and kayaking, canoeing and boating whenever we get a chance, so I can't complain! In Minnesota you are never far from a vacation spot. (Hmm…that sounds like a good tag line for a tourism ad…)
Wow, that sounds amazing! Here in Arizona, the landscaping business would be an awful one to be in during the summer!!
Yeah, I expect to gain like 10 pounds on the cruise…lol.
